Whom Should I Ask
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Where should I go if there is a problem with my program?
If you have a problem with your program when you first receive it, you should file a program change with your prefect teacher or counselor during lunch. If time elapses and other problems arise, see your guidance counselor. He/she will investigate the matter. You may make an appointment with your counselor through your teacher or in the counselor’s office during your lunch period.
2. Where should I go if I lose my wallet or anything that may be of value?
Report the loss to the Dean’s office BW2 or BW4. Make certain to get something in writing which will confirm your report of the loss. Don’t wait. Report it immediately.
3. What if I need help in a particular subject?
Inform your subject teacher. He/she may be able to recommend additional study materials. If you need tutoring, go to the dept. office; the Assistant Principal of that subject area may be able to arrange tutoring for you.
4. Where should I go if I would like more information on clubs, service activities or sports?
Go to the Student Activities office in 7C1 for more information regarding most student activities. For information on sports and teams, please see the Athletic Department in room 3W26.
5. Where should I go if I do not feel well during the school day?
Obtain a pass to the Infirmary (3W22) from your subject teacher. You will be able to rest in the infirmary until you feel better. If you are unable to continue your classes, the Infirmary will contact your parent or guardian who must come to get you. You can not leave school unless you are accompanied by your parent or guardian.
6. If I am having difficulty managing my time, who can give me advice?
Your subject teacher can give you advice on how to manage the material in your subject area. The COSAs, in room 7C1, can help you with scheduling your activities. Tech’s Student Activity Coordinator is also available in room 7C1 to help with your questions and choices.
7. If I lose a textbook, how can I get another one?
Report to the department office. The Assistant Principal will let you know the price of the lost textbook. Upon payment, you will receive a release to receive a duplicate text from your teacher.
8. If I am scheduled to begin the day at the start of the 2nd period and I get to school early, where can I go?
A breakfast program functions daily in the students’ cafeteria. This program runs between 7:30 and 8:30 am. The student library in 5C1 opens at 7:30. Also, students may sign up for office squads at this time.
9. Where should I go if I have a problem with my transportation pass?
See the transportation coordinator. If you have other inquiries, Tech has its own transit liaison in the Dean’s office.
10. Where should I go if I lose my program card/picture I.D.?
If you lose your program card or Tech Photo ID, go to the S.G.O. Store, 7C5, to pay for a duplicate. The charge for a program card is $1.00 and a photo I.D. is $5.00.
11. Where can I get working papers?
Working papers are issued through BW4 they need to see Ms. Thomas.
12. Where may I obtain a letter of verification for social services?
The Guidance Office, issues face to face letters.
13. If I have a change of address, where should I go to have it changed on my school records?
Report to your counselor with a utility bill, gas or electric bill (no phone bill) showing your new address or lease.
14. What should I do if someone is bothering me?
Report it to the Dean’s Office BW2 or BW4.
