CREDIT
Students who complete Checkpoint A in grade eight or below must take and pass the Second Language Proficiency Exam (SLP) as well as the course in order to earn one year of high school credit.
Proof of meeting the requirements outlined above must be submitted to Brooklyn Tech as early as possible in order to facilitate proper programming for the student.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
- Public Middle Schools: Students coming from NYCDOE middle schools must have both the course and proficiency test score on their official transcript. It is the responsibility of the student and family to confirm that the middle school has completed this task.
- Private/Parochial Middle Schools: A copy of the last report card or transcript where the final grade for the course is indicated as well as the passing grade of the SLP. It is the responsibility of the student and family to confirm that the middle school has completed this task.
PLACEMENT
If no documentation is provided to the school, the student will be programmed to for Level I of a language. Upon submission of required documentation, the student will be programmed for Level II of the target language (if space is available).
Students who pass the Second Language Proficiency Exam (SLP) as well as the course in middle school will automatically be programmed for Level II of the target language and will not have the option to start a different language.
