Students in the International Arts & Sciences program are required to earn the Advanced Placement International Diploma by completing courses selected in categories outlined on the preceding page. These course selection must include one AP Elective in junior year and two in senior year that are taken in addition to, and not in lieu of, the required courses for all students.
Ex. A student may take AP Language & Composition in junior year and though it counts to complete a category required for the AP Diploma, it would not count as the junior elective since all students must take English and the major instructional periods must be above and beyond core required classes. The student may select any single period AP elective that cannot be used in lieu of the regular course or AP physics which is a double period class. (One period in lieu of regular physics and the second period satisfying the major period).
In addition to the five required AP courses selected, student must also complete two courses in the Project Lead The Way technical sequence.
The junior year course will be Principles of Engineering, a class in project based applied physics and pre-engineering. Senior year, students will choose one class from a set of electives including Digital Electronics, Biotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering & Architecture or Aerospace Engineering.
